Adding or Removing Sound Events from Control Panel
You can Add and Delete sound events in the Control Panel. Now this one takes a little work depending on whether your adding a new event or deleting an old one, so be careful and always backup your registry before making any changes to it!
1. Open RegEdit 2. Go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps and/or HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Eventlabels
If either of these keys do not exist you can create them and add or delete events as necessary.
As an example, this is the registry entry for the normal Windows startup sound.
This is the location of the key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\Explorer\Navigating\.current
This is the string data value:
“C:\WINDOWS\media\start.wav”
