Type: External (2.0 and later)
Syntax:
MORE < (filename or command)
(name)|MORE
Purpose: Sends output to console, one screen at a time.
Discussion
MORE is a filter command (reads from input, transforms it, and outputs it to the screen, to a file, or to a printer). MORE displays the output one screen at a time, then pauses and displays the message MORE at the bottom of your screen. Pressing any key will display another screen full of information. This process continues until all the input data has been read. The MORE command is useful for viewing a long file one screen at a time. You can use the MORE command with the redirection symbol < to send the output to a file or for use by another command. You can also use the piping symbol (|) to pipe the output of a program or a DOS command (referred to as name in the command format) to MORE.
Examples
To display the file SALE2.TXT, one screen full of data at a time, enter more < sale2.txt To display the output of the TYPE command one screen at a time, you can enter the command using the following format: TYPE (filename)|MORE For example, to display the file LET3.DOC in the LETTERS directory on drive B, enter type b:\letters\let3.doc|more
